     Angelo R. Mozilo, who co-founded Countrywide Credit Industries, Inc. (NYSE: CCR) in 1969, is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. He also serves as Chairman of Countrywide Home Loans, Inc., the company’s main subsidiary.

      Countrywide, a global leader in residential finance and related services, and a member of the Forbes 500 and S&P 500, maintains more than 450 branches across the country, with a work force of more than 13,000 employees. A hands-on manager, Mozilo is active in all aspects of Countrywide’s businesses. While he reviews all financial and operational activities, his central focus is on overall business growth and strategic direction. 

     Mozilo was the 1991-1992 President of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America (MBA), which represents more than 3,000 member firms involved in every aspect of mortgage and real estate finance. In 1990, the MBA awarded him the title of Certified Mortgage Banker, the industry’s highest professional designation

     Inducted into the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Hall of Fame in 1995, Mozilo currently serves on its National Housing Endowment Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the NAHB.

     Other activities include serving on the boards of the National Italian American Foundation, the National Building Museum Society, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, as well as the Board of Trustees at Fordham University in New York City and Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, where Mozilo established an annual scholarship in his name. Mozilo also served as president of the San Gabriel Valley Council of the Boy Scouts in 1993 and 1994.

 

Recent awards received by Mozilo include:

Albert Schweitzer Award for his work with the youth of America

Special Achievement Award for Humanitarian Service from the National Italian American Foundation

Jane Wyman Humanitarian Service Award from the Arthritis Foundation

Ellis Island Medal of Honor, which is held by all living U.S. Presidents

1999 Executive of the Year award, presented at the MBA Western Secondary Market Conference 

     Mozilo received a bachelor of science degree from Fordham University in 1960, and holds an honorary doctor of laws degree from Pepperdine University. Mozilo and his wife, Phyllis, have five children and seven grandchildren.
