Nicholas J. St. George

Nicholas J. St. George is a private investor and consultant since retiring in
October 1999 as Chairman, President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Oakwood Homes
Corporation (NYSE-OH), a manufacturer and retailer of manufactured housing. He held that position for 20 years.
He
earned his B.A. in 1960 from the College of William and Mary and his Doctor of Law Degree
in 1965 from the College of William and Marys Marshall-Wythe School of Law. He began his career with the General Electric
Corporation but soon left for service as an Airborne Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army. Other positions include Trust Representative for
Virginia National Bank; Group Vice President, Investment Banking, Legg Mason, Inc.; Vice
President-Corporate Development, Ferguson Enterprises.
He joined Oakwood in 1979.
He
is on the board of Legg Mason, Inc.; a member of the Board of Trustees of the Endowment
Association of the College of William and Mary; a member of the Board of Trustees of the
William and Mary School of Law Foundation; and the Advisory Board of the Graduate School
of Business of the College of William and Mary. He
is a member of the Virginia Bar Association and American Bar Association.
His
professional and civic activities have included being on the boards of American Bankers
Insurance Group, Inc.; Carey International, Inc.; First Union National Bank, Greensboro,
NC; Natelli Communities; Piedmont Associated Industries; Fannie Mae National Advisory
Council; a senior member of The Conference Board and member of the International Platform
Association; board member of Guilford College, the Home Economics Foundation of
UNC-Greensboro and Chairman of the Manufactured Housing Institute (National Industry
Association). Vice Chairman of the board of
Coordinating Council on Manufactured Housing Finance; member of North Carolina
Manufactured Housing Institute; board member of the Foundation of Greater Greensboro,
Greensboro Area Chamber of Commerce; Greensboro City Club; Greensboro Development
Corporation; United Arts Council; YMCA of Greensboro, NC and YMCA Regional Camping
Development.
Honors
include RV/MH Heritage Foundation Hall of Fame in 1997; The Wall Street Transcript CEO Gold Award in the
Manufacturing Housing Industry for 1996, 1995, 1994, 1993, 1986 and 1985; Silver Award in
1992 and 1991; and Bronze Award in 1990. National
Manufactured Housing Congress named St. George Industry Person of the Year for 1995. The Financial
World CEO of the Year for 1985 in Residential Shelter.
Nicks
mother, Rachel Argonti, and father, Louis Sangiorgio, are both from Italian descent. All grandparents immigrated to the United States
through Ellis Island from Italy. Nick and his
wife, Eugenia, reside in Winter Park, Florida. He
has two sons and 3 grandchildren.
