Alfred Lerner Alfred
Lerner was born May 8, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York.
He attended New York City schools and graduated from Brooklyn
Technical High School in 1951, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree
from Columbia College in 1955. Alfred
then served in the United States Marine Corps (1st LT.) from
1955 to 1957. Mr.
Lerner’s present occupations and positions include being Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer of MBNA Corporation, (NYSE) Newark, Delaware (the
second-largest bank lender through credit cards in the United States).
He is also Chairman and owner of the Cleveland Browns.
He serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Town and Country
Trust, (NYSE) Baltimore, Maryland; President and Trustee of the Cleveland
Clinic Foundation (Chairman of Executive Committee and Investment
Committee). In addition to
these numerous duties, Mr. Lerner is also Vice Chairman and Trustee of
Columbia University (Chairman of Health Sciences Committee and Member of
the Executive Committee), as well as trustee of Case Western Reserve
University and Member of Medical School Visiting Committee, and trustee of
