Anthony C. Ferreri Anthony C. Ferreri (b. January 19, 1951) was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Staten Island University Hospital in August 2003, having been that institution’s Executive Vice President since June 2001. Staten Island University Hospital is a tertiary, major teaching hospital, the fifth largest in New York City. Prior to joining the hospital, Mr. Ferreri served as President and Chief Executive Officer (1986 – 2001) of Metrotemp Services Company, Inc. and Metro Healthcare Services, for-profit healthcare staffing and home care firms, with offices in New York and New Jersey. Before founding Metro, Ferreri served as Vice President for Human Resources at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, New Jersey, Assistant Administrator of Alexian Brothers Hospital, Elizabeth, New Jersey and as Director of Personnel for United Hospitals Medical Center and The Hospital Center at Orange, both located in New Jersey. Mr. Ferreri received his Bachelor of Arts (1972) from Wagner College and his Master of Science in Human Resources and Industrial Relations (1981) from Rutgers University. Ferreri serves on the Boards of SIUH Systems, Inc., Staten Island University Hospital, the North Shore-LIJ Health System, Inc., and Snug Harbor Cultural Center. He has served on the board of the Staten Island Division of the American Heart Association and has chaired several of its fund raising events. He has been active in youth sports and has served as baseball manager for both the South Shore Little League and South Shore Babe Ruth League. From 1993 until 1997, he served as President of the Moore Catholic High School Family Association. Mr. Ferreri is a charter member of the Wagner College DaVinci Society, a group of prominent Italian Americans, formed to foster the Italian and Italian-American cultures. In 2000, Mr. Ferreri Served as Chairperson of the American Heart Association’s American Heart Walk. In 2004 and 2005, Mr. Ferreri chaired the March of Dimes Gourmet Gala and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s “Walk to Cure Diabetes”. In 2001, Mr. Ferreri was awarded the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce’s Lewis R. Miller Award for achievement in business. In 2004, the Staten Island Alzheimer’s Association recognized him for community service. In 2005, Mr. Ferreri was named to the New Dorp High School Hall of Fame, an honor reserved for a select group of graduates. Prior inductees include former borough president and congressman Guy Molinari and acclaimed actor Robert Loggia. Later the same year, Mr. Ferreri and his wife, Michele, were honored for their community service at the annual Friends of Hospice Gala. In addition, the International Management Council named Ferreri “Manager of the Year” and the American Hospital Association honored him for his work in creating and hosting the “Healthcare Personnel Forum”, a televised educational program transmitted, via satellite, to hospitals throughout the United States. In addition, Ferreri has served as President of various statewide trade associations, including The New Jersey Association for Healthcare Human Resources Administration, The New Jersey Association of Hospital Recruiters and the New Jersey Association of Temporary Services. Mr. Ferreri’s great-grandparents, Antonino and Antoinetta Testa, migrated to the United States from Campobasso, Italy more than 100 years ago. Their daughter Christina married Anthony DiSerafino, another Italian immigrant, who settled in Staten Island in 1916. Ferreri’s paternal grandparents, Anthony Ferreri and Maria Scalacci Ferreri, migrated from Sicily. They initially settled in Manhattan before moving to Staten Island in 1920. His mother Lucy DiSerafino and father Joseph V. Ferreri were born in Staten Island. Mr. Ferreri has two brothers Joseph and Christopher. He is married to the former Michele DeStasio and has two adult children, Toni Ann Spinella and Joseph Ferreri.
