Catsimatidis was born in Greece in 1948 and brought to the United States
by his parents while still an infant.
Raised in New York City, Mr.Catsimatidis attended high school in
Brooklyn and then New York University.
Mr. Catsimatidis and his wife Margo Catsimatidis have two children;
daughter Andrea John, “AJ” 10 years, and son,
John Andreas, Jr., “Yianni” 7 years.
John Catsimatidis is Chairman and the Chief Executive
Officer of the Red Apple Group, Inc., a privately held company with annual
sales of over $2 billion and 10,000 employees.
The Red Apple Group is a diversified company with holdings in a
wide variety of operations such as:
| OIL REFINING: |
United Refining of Warren, Pennsylvania is a mid-sized oil refinery
(70,000 bb/day). Operating
under the name "Kwik-Fill" the refinery operates 354
convenience stores and filling stations in Northwest New York and
Western Pennsylvania. |
| SUPERMARKETS: |
Operating under the names "Sloan's"
and "Gristede's" this is the l largest supermarket chain in Manhattan.
Mr. Catsimatidis founded this
business in 1969 while still in college and today operates
50 stores. An additional supermarket operating under the name
"Grand Union" is located in the Virgin
Islands. Mr.Catsimatidis is also the majority stockholder of "Gristede’s
Food Inc." a
publicly traded company on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX:GRI). |

Extensive commercial real estate holdings in New
York, Florida and New Jersey. |
| AVIATION: |
Operating under the name "Capitol Air
Express" and "C&S
Acquisition", Mr. Catsimatidis has operated a
worldwide, commercial charter
and aircraft leasing company with Boeing 727's and personal jet aircraft. Mr.
Catsimatidis himself is a pilot. |

Owner and Editor of the "Hellenic
Times" newspaper, the largest Greek
American newspaper printed in English, in the United
States. |
