Margo Catsimatidis Margo Catsimatidis joined the staff of the Hellenic Times in 1979 as head of Advertising and assumed her current position as co-publisher in 1993. In 1984 Margo founded MCV Advertising Associates, an advertising agency specializing in retail print advertising whose accounts appear in all major New York City print media. Margo is the television spokesperson for Gristede’s Supermarkets in New York City. From 1979-1991 she was Coordinator of the annual Columbus Avenue Festival, a 30-block festival which draws a crowd in excess of one million, raising funds for the West Side of Manhattan for various school and community projects. She was also one of the founders and coordinator of the Amsterdam Avenue Festival and is a member of the West Side Chamber of Commerce. Margo and her husband John built a computer and science school in Jerusalem and have helped build the first Chapel on Camp David. Margo is also active on numerous committees, serving as Chairman of the National Alzheimer’s Foundation Dinner. In addition, she serves on the Executive Committee of New York Hospital and the Police Athletic League (which helps 60,000 underprivileged children every year), and is Chairman of the Annual PAL Holiday Party which serves over 1,000 children, and is on the committee of the PAL women’s luncheon. Margo also served as Chairman of the Parkinsons Disease foundation Dinner. Margo is also a member of the Leadership 100 for the Greek Orthodox Church and served as chairman of the Cathedral Philoptochos Chrysanthemum Ball and the Children's Luncheon raising funds for cancer stricken children. She also serves as one of the Chairmen of the Russian Heritage Foundation Annual Dinner in St. Petersburg, Florida. Margo is also on the Advisory Board of the Tolstoy Foundation. Margo and John were instrumental in building a home for the aged in New York, which has 100 apartments. Margo has also served on the Board of the Martha Graham dance Company and is Vice-Chairman and one of the founders of the Hellenic Times Scholarship Fund, which awards over $100,000 in scholarships to students from across the country.
