Duane E. Collins Irish/English 2009 Recipient Duane E. Collins retired as Chairman of the Board of Parker Hannifan on October 27, 2004. He had been Chairman since being elected on October 27, 1999. Prior to that election, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Parker from 1993 until 1999. Under his leadership, Parker employees have more than doubled sales and quadrupled earnings. He had served as Vice Chairman for the prior year and previously was Corporate Executive Vice President and President – International since 1988. He had been named President – International in 1987, following appointment as a Corporate Vice President in 1983. He began his career with Parker as a Sales Engineer in 1961, with early assignments in regional sales positions throughout the United States. He served as General Sales Manager and Operations Manager of the Hose Products Division prior to being named General Manager in 1973. Collins was appointed President – Fluid Connectors Group in 1980, after having been Vice President – Operations if that Group for four years. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, he also attended the Advanced Management Program of Harvard University. Collins is a member of the Board of Directors of the MeadWestvaco Corporation, National City Bank, Sherwin-Williams Co. and MTD Holdings. Serves on the Board of Trustees of Hospice of the Western Reserve, the Board of Trustees of the Cleveland YMCA, the Board of Trustees of University Hospitals and the Board of Trustees of Cleveland Council on World Affairs.
