David D. Carr Brennan Industries English / Russian 2001 Recipient David D. Carr has always been an enterprising, adventurous individual with a quick wit and a great sense of purpose and responsibility. After graduating from Cleveland Heights High School, Mr. Carr volunteered for the draft and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his return he attended John Carroll University on the G.I. Bill, where his thirst for knowledge continued. Mr. Carr currently serves as the President and C.E.O. of a privately owned and operated corporation, Brennan Industries, head-quartered in Solon, Ohio, with warehouse locations in Ohio, Georgia, Texas, Washington and California, and manufacturing in Asia. Brennan Industries is the largest independent manufacturer and supplier of hydraulic connectors in the United States. Under his leadership, Brennan has flourished and now prides itself on being the premier supplier of more than 10,000 styles of hydraulic fittings throughout the world. During his 42 year tenure, Mr. Carr has exhibited his unwavering loyalty, true compassion for his employees, a strong work ethic and a strategic vision of the role Brennan continues to play in the marketplace. He is highly respected by his customer base and has established solid relationships, giving Brennan the competitive edge. His organization maintains the highest levels of commitment to producing high quality fittings in a timely fashion for customers. Mr. Carrs keen foresight will continue to guide the success of Brennan. Mr. Carr is proud of his rich Russian and English heritage. His lifestyle today exemplifies the strong work ethic and traditional family values that his parents and grandparents instilled in him at an early age. Mr. Carrs mother was a member of a very prominent Russian family who escaped during the Bolshevik Revolution and immigrated to America. His father was the son of English immigrants who came to America eager to work, with a desire to provide a new life for their descendants. Collectively, they assisted in paving the path for Mr. Carrs success. He remains grateful for their inspiration, dedication and perseverance. Mr. Carrs personal mission is to strengthen and assist the quality of life for those in his community. He has quietly and significantly reached out to those in need, spearheading fund raising initiatives for education, health care and the arts. His philanthropy and business acumen have yielded tremendous results for both national organizations such as Meals on Wheels and AIDS, as well as his favorite local charities, University Hospitals of Cleveland, Gilmour Academy and Providence House. He has served on numerous boards and continues to be a vital force in raising funds for charities. He has also served as a mentor, having spent endless hours helping many individuals to start their own companies. Mr.
Carr is the proud father of Cathy and David, and an even prouder
grandfather of Samantha, Charlotte, Joseph, Justin and Michael. Mr. Carr and his wife, Carole, reside in Hunting Valley, Ohio
