As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Longaberger Company, Dave Longaberger has established a company widely recognized as an innovative leader in the direct sales industry and a national model for corporate social responsibility. In the 20 years since Dave revived his father's business of making handcrafted baskets in his hometown of Dresden, Longaberger Products have become synonymous with quality.

  Thousands of Independent Sales Associates nationwide market and sell the exclusive Longaberger product line of Longaberger Baskets, pottery and dinnerware, fabric liners and accessories, Woodcrafts dividers and lids and wrought iron products through home shows. The Company's explosive sales growth in the last decade has resulted in its emergence as one of the State of Ohio's largest employers.

  In recognition of his strong philosophical belief that business has an obligation to invest in the communities where they are located, Dave has received several statewide and national honors for corporate social responsibility. Included in this list of honors are a 1994 Ohio Friend of Education Award and, previously, Inc. magazine's first-ever Socially Responsible Entrepreneur of the Year in 1992. Additionally, Dave traveled to the White House in 1991 to receive the Take Pride in America Award, sponsored by the United States Department of the Interior and, in 1990, he received the Direct Selling Association's inaugural Vision for Tomorrow Award. In 1993, he received a Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from Muskingum College for his commitment to the communities of East-Central/Southeastern Ohio, and in the spring of 1994, Dave and his daughters, Tami Longaberger, President and Rachel Longaberger, Senior Vice President, accepted a national award from the U.S. Senate and Childhelp USA for "helping families and children succeed." Recently, Dave was honored as a recipient of the 1997 Ellis Island Medal of Honor Award.

  Dave is best characterized through a statement by the State of Ohio which said, "But perhaps as much as any other company, any other entrepreneur, Dave Longaberger is Ohio's ambassador for how business is done in Ohio."
