Dr Muhammed Majeed, a scientist turned entrepreneur, is a native of Kerala, India. He has played a pioneering role in introducing Ayurveda to the United States by standardizing the herbal extracts. Because of this initiative coupled with his lecture series on Ayurveda in the US, the people in America started recognizing the potential of Ayurveda and called it the Alternative medicine. By 2000 it became Complementary medicine and now it is part of the Integrated medicine.

Today, as Chairman and Managing Director of Sami Labs Limited, Bangalore, Dr Majeed controls a large business house successfully linking its R&D to the market and the farmland. His efforts are focused on finding answers to the ailments of the modern man, thanks to his immense trust in the traditional knowledge of India. Sami Labs has today 25 US and international patents to its credit.

Sami Labs Limited which was set up in 1991,is based out of Bangalore & is the parent company and Sabinsa Corporation which was established in 1988 in New Jersey,USA,has presence in Utah (US), Australia, Europe, Japan, Middle East, China, Malaysia and South Africa, acts as the international marketing arm of Sami Labs Limited.

More than 10,000 farmers are involved with Sami Labs in cultivating
medicinal herbs in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab,
Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Punjab and Kerala.

Dr Majeed completed his graduation in Pharmacy from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College in 1973. He went to US in 1975 and took his Masters in Industrial Pharmacy from Long Island University and Ph.D in the same field from St. John's University in 1986.He has also worked for reputed organizations like Pfizer Inc,Carter Wallace & Paco Research.
