Edgar Hagopian is President of Hagopian & Sons, Inc., as well as
Chairman of Hagopian Family of Company’s encompassing Hagopian World
of Rugs, Inc., Hagopian Cleaning Services, Inc., Hagopian Fire & Flood
Services, Inc., as well as a partner in Design Décor LLC, dba Roche
Bobois.
Hagopian & Sons, Inc., is a family owned company established in 1939
by Haroutun (Harry) Hagopian, formerly a pharmacist in Istanbul, Turkey.
When he arrived in the United States, Harry Hagopian began a carpet stain
removal company as a one man operation with a handbag of chemicals. In
2006 Hagopian Family of Company’s celebrates 67 years of doing business
in the metro Detroit Area.
Hagopian World of Rugs and Hagopian Rug Outlet have a total of four locations
and are Michigan’s largest Oriental Rug dealers. The Hagopian family
of company’s employs 200+ people in the metropolitan Detroit area.
They also maintain a showroom, established in 1978, in the Michigan Design
Center, The Ghiordes Knot, offering merchandise to the Design Trade.
Hagopian Cleaning Services is the largest carpet and rug cleaning firm
in Michigan offering residential and commercial carpet and furniture cleaning
and full disaster restoration services. It has the only fully automated
rug cleaning plant in the state.
Edgar Hagopian worked in his father’s laboratory and business as
a child and officially joined the firm in 1953 after studying at the University
of Michigan and completing his military service.
He has attended numerous management seminars and retail management courses
through Wayne State University and Indiana University, as well as Trade
Association seminars. He received Oriental Rug Appraisal Certification
from the Oriental Rug Retailers of America (ORRA).
Passing on the tradition of corporate responsibility to the third generation,
Hagopian is involved in numerous charitable organizations and his philanthropic
efforts in the local community are well known. Hagopian companies donate
in excess of $70M in goods and services to local charities annually.
Design Décor LLC opened the Novi Michigan franchise of Roche Bobois
in 2003 in Novi Michigan. The grand opening was a fund-raiser for Seeds
of Peace, an organization dedicated to empowering young leaders from regions
of conflict with the leadership skills required to advance reconciliation
and coexistence.

· 2005 Ellis Island Medal of Honor awarded to Edgar Hagopian -
The Ellis Island Medal of Honor was created in 1986 to honor the many
ancestral groups who through struggle, sacrifice and success, helped build
this great nation. Six Presidents, several Senators and Congressman and
Nobel Prize Winners are among the remarkable group of individuals to receive
the Ellis Island Medals of Honor for their outstanding contributions to
America. Every year the prestigious Medals are presented to outstanding
Americans who have distinguished themselves as citizens of the United
States.
· 2005 Detroit Jewish News Style Magazine “Best Of”
– recognizing Hagopian World of Rugs as Oakland County’s premier
Oriental Rug Retailer.

Edgar Hagopian for his business acumen and his continuing creation of

honoring outstanding individuals who through their perseverance build
family, businesses and careers while supporting and promoting cultural
diversity.
