Frank A. Corvino Frank A. Corvino has been president and chief executive officer of Greenwich Hospital since 1991; and was senior vice president and chief operating officer from 1988 to 1991. In addition, he is executive vice president of the Yale New Haven Health System. Under Corvino’s leadership over the past 15 years. Greenwich Hospital has experienced unprecedented growth, including the opening of the Helmsley Medical Building (1999) and the Olive and Thomas J. Watson Pavilion (2005). Together these buildings completely replaced the Greenwich Hospital that existed in 1996. The state-of-the-art facility has been hailed as a model of healing for future hospital designs. He has spearheaded the introduction of several new clinical programs, ranging from the Breast Care Center, Endoscopy Center to expanded maternity, pediatric and geriatric services, including the Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital Pediatric Specialty Center at Greenwich Hospital. Corvino has been responsible for instituting an enhanced service excellence culture at the hospital. Under his stewardship, Greenwich Hospital has consistently ranked among the top hospitals nationwide in patient satisfaction, according to Press, Ganey Associates, the country’s leader in healthcare satisfaction measurement. Corvino’s ability to work effectively with physicians, patients, trustee members, advocacy groups, hospital staff and others has been instrumental in establishing Greenwich Hospital’s reputation as the area’s premier healthcare facility. Prior to coming to Greenwich Hospital, Corvino was an executive vice president at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center in Bronx, New York, where he also held various other management positions. He received his undergraduate degree in Pharmacy at Fordham University and completed his graduate training at St. John’s University. Corvino has held adjunct faculty teaching positions at New York Medical College and St. John’s University. He is active in community and professional organizations and served on the Boards of the United Way of Greenwich and the Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) and currently, the Greenwich Emergency Medical Services (GEMS), Providence Rest Nursing Home, Bronx and the Norwalk Community College Foundation. In the fall of 1998, Corvino was named a recipient of the St. John’s University Alumni Outstanding Achievement Medal at the school’s 17th annual Alumni Convocation. In 2001 Corvino was honored by the Greenwich Rotary Club as its “Citizen of the Year” for his commitment to enhancing the quality of medical care in the region. Also, Corvino received the Malcolm T. MacEachern CEO Award from the Health
Academy of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in 2004 for
his demonstrated exemplary use of public relations to advance the hospital’s
organizational goals. On May 13, 2006 he was recognized with an Ellis
Island Medal of Honor by the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations
(NECO). Mr. Corvino lives in Greenwich with his wife, Virginia, and has
two children, Timothy and Aimee.
