Education: Graduate of Cornell University with degree, Civil Engineer

Career: Currently serves as President of Mid-South Telecommunications Company, Inc. Founded Bovay Engineers, Inc. in 1946, which merged with Armco Steel in 1979. Retired as CEO in 1984 and began a second career in telecommunications. Professional Engineer licensed in 17 states. Engineer with Humble Oil and Refining Company in Baytown for 9 years; Executive Secretary of Petroleum Administration for War for 1 year, 1943.

Civic Work: Past President, Sam Houston Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, Past President of South Central Region, BSA, Member of National Board, BSA; Former Chairman, Houston Commission on Zoning; Member of Senior Council of Advisors, The Houston Forum; Kiwanis Club of Houston Legion of Honor Award for 55 year membership; Former Director of Houston Chamber of Commerce.

Awards: Recipient of Benjamin N. Woodson Founder’s Medal for Outstanding Community Leadership and Service; recipient of Frank H.T. Rhodes Exemplary Alumni Service Award by Cornell University; recipient of Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award by the Boy Scouts of America; recipient of Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope and Silver Buffalo Awards from the Boy Scouts of America for Distinguished Service to Youth; recipient of the ASHRAE/ALCO Medal for Distinguished Public Service; recipient of the George Washington Distinguished Service Award by the Paul Carrington Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

and a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute. He is also a Knight in the Royal Order of Francis I of the Royal House of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies.
Listed in eight “Who’s Who” publications – including “Who’s Who in the World.” Editor of 1981 Handbook of Mechanical and Electrical Systems for Buildings, and holds six invention patents on designs and applications of sorters used in automated lumber mills.
