  Born April 16, 1918 in Russia to a family of Lithuanian political deportees.

  1922 returned to Lithuania.

  1941 received BA in Economics from the University of Vilnius in Vilnius, Lithuania. Thesis "Collectivization of the Lithuanian Agriculture."

  1947 moved to United States.

  1951 Ph.D. from Yale University Graduate School. Thesis "Sovietization of the Czechoslovakian Economy."

  1951 founded Neris Coal export Company, engaged in international trade and investments in exploration of coal, oil, natural gas and geothermal energy.

  1980 to present, Venture Capital Investments.

  Throughout business career:

  Consultant to a number of major energy and industrial companies which included El Paso Natural Gas Company, Columbia Gas, Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Company, Esso, Rockwell International, Kawasaki Heavy Industries (Japan), etc.

  Sat on the Boards of Cyprus Corp., Astrotech Corp., Stafford Rail Products Company, Cosmos Bank (Switzerland), etc.

  Trustee mutual funds, American Industry Fund, Stadmen Investment Fund, Associated Fund and Oceanic Technology and Growth Fund.

  Member US Small Business Council.

  Member Yale University Graduate School National Advisory Council.

  Consultant to the Honorable J. J. McCloy re: German - NATO - French relationship and the Cuban Crisis US - Soviet negotiations.

  Active in Lithuanian organizations, Lithuanian Foundation, American Lithuania Community, World Lithuanian Community, Economic Advisor to Sajudis and after March 11, 1991 to the Lithuanian Government. Organized Prime Minister Prunskiene’s trip and attended meetings with President Bush, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, President Mitterand and Chancellor Kohl.

  Organized trips of various foundations to the Baltic Countries and meetings with government, business and academic leaders, Soros Foundation, Pew Charitable Trusts, Rockefeller Brothers Foundation, Board of Trustees of the Heritage Foundation, etc. Organized foreign affairs seminars led by Pittsburgh University and the Center for International Management Education, as well as numerous meetings with Baltic Government Officials, businessmen, scientists and others.

  Advisor to the International Baltic Economic Commission and to the Prime Ministers of Lithuania Mrs. K. Prunskiene, Mr. G. Vagnorius, Mr. A. Slezevicius, President Vytautas Landsbergis and President Algirdas Brazauskas.

  Member of the delegation to oversee the delivery of humanitarian aid to Lithuania provided by the foundation, Together for Peace, led by Mrs. Mariapia Fanfani of Italy.

  Worked with Professor Lawrence Summers (at present Under Secretary of the Treasury), to develop a plan for Lithuania’s transition to a market economy.

  Active as a speaker, writer, editor, discussion leader at various economic and social political conferences for the past forty years. At the present fully dedicating his time helping Lithuania to develop a free market system.

  In 1991 founded the first privately owned satellite telecommunications company, Litcom, serving Lithuania and the surrounding Republics. In 1993, Litcom installed public data network with worldwide connection through Sprintnet. In 1994, Motorola acquired 38% of Litcom. Due to government regulation In October 1994, Litcom’s trade name was changed to Omnitel. On March 16, 1995, Omnitel started GSM mobile communications network in Vilnius, Lithuania.

  At the request of the Lithuanian Government is engaged in preparing a feasibility study for the privatization of the Lithuanian Telecommunications Network.
