Karl L. Boeckmann is vice president of Galpin Motors, a Boeckmann family-owned and operated enterprise of successful automobile franchises, including Ford, Honda, Mazda, Saturn, Lincoln, Mercury, Volvo, Jaguar and Aston Martin, as well as the Horseless Carriage Restaurant, Galpin Starbucks, and Galpin Auto Sports, a unique customizing and aftermarket retail venue.

A native of California, Karl was born and raised in Glendale.  After graduating from Glendale College, he earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern California in 1957, served with the U.S. Army in Panama, and worked with the accounting firm of Touche, Ross, Bailey & Smart prior to joining the executive team of Galpin Motors in the San Fernando Valley.

A tireless advocate of American ideals and Christian family values, Karl believes in community service as an integral part of his life and personal ethics.  He actively serves on the board of directors of Goodwill, New Directors of Youth, Pierce College, Diabetes Assocation, Fernando Award Foundation, and the Mission Hills Police.  He is founding chair of the Giving Campaign for One Generation, co-founder of the Armand Arabian Award, and supports the John Wayne Cancer Institute as well as several college and high school auto tech programs.  He is also a lifetime member of the California Society of CPA’s.

Karl is the recipient of many honors for his public service, including the Nellie Regan Award, One Generation Hearts Across the Valley, Philanthropist of the Year, Free Enterprise Award, William Shatner’s Partners with Youth Award, and the Fernando Award, which is the San Fernando Valley’s highest accolade for outstanding community leadership and service.

Karl and his wife, Thyra, are avid travelers who embrace the diversity of the world and the “melting pot” universality which America represents
