Mr. Andren is Chairman of New York Cruise Lines, Inc., which owns Circle Line Sightseeing Yachts, Inc.; World Yacht, Inc.; and Seaport Liberty Cruises.  He immigrated to the United States in 1962 and became a citizen in 1967.

Mr. Andren studied at Upsala College in New Jersey, where in 1967 he received a Bachelor of Science degree.  He was voted outstanding Alumni of the Year in 1985 for his achievements in business and industry.

He continued his education at Pennsylvania State University where he earned a Master’s degree in economics in 1969.   Mr. Andren spent his next five years with the investment banking firm of Dominick and Dominick, New York City, as a Securities Analyst and Vice President of Corporate Finance.

In 1974, Mr. Andren acquired Manhattan Oil Transportation and later Higman Towing Company of Texas.  These companies owned and traded tugs, barges and coastal tankers on the United States east and Gulf coasts, transporting crude oil, vegetable oil and chemicals.

In 1978, Mr. Andren founded United Tank Containers by ordering over 500 tank containers in France for worldwide transportation of vegetable oil and special chemicals.  This company was subsequently sold in 1982 to Stolt Tankers & Terminals S/A, and is today the world’s largest transporter of specialty liquids.

In 1981, Mr. Andren acquired the Circle Line and Day Line companies, one of the largest tourist attractions in the City of New York, carrying approximately one million people annually and referred to as “The Great American Sightseeing Cruise.”

In 1982, Mr. Andren conceived the idea of building sail cruise vessels for commercial purposes.  After intensive marketing and technical research, Windstar Sail Cruises Limited was organized, and in 1984, an order was placed for two (2) 440-foot sailing ships in France.  These ships were the largest computerized sailing ships ever built, and were based in Martinique and Tahiti.  A third vessel was ordered in April 1986 and was based in Monte Carlo, and the Virgin Islands in April 1988.  Windstar Sail Cruises Limited was subsequently sold in September 1988 to Holland American Line.

On July 1, 1986, Mr. Andren was awarded by Mayor Koch, the Liberty Medal for outstanding contributions in business and tourism in the City of New York.  In a ceremony conducted in New York, in 1987, Mr. Andren was inducted into the French Legion of Honor.  In the fall of 1993, he was awarded the Swedish Royal Order of the North Star.

In 1988, Circle Line Sightseeing Yachts, Inc. acquired World Yacht, Inc. – New York’s largest dinner cruise operation.

Mr. Andren is the Chairman, a Director and a member of the Executive Committee of the New York Convention and Visitors Bureau, and is actively involved in various tourism organizations in the City of  New York.  He is also a Director of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.; President Riverboat Casinos, Inc.; Bureau Veritas of Paris, France; and a Trustee of the American Merchant Marine Museum, Kings Point, New York; The International Research Foundation For Children’s Eyecare, New York; and the American Scandinavian Foundation, New York.  He is a me4mber of the New York Yacht Club, New York; Indian Harbor Yacht Club, Greenwich, CT; and the Stanwich Club, Greenwich, Connecticut.

Mr. Andren is married to the former Louise B. Strom and they have two children, Patrick and Jennifer, ages 23 and 20.
