Demetrios G. Logothetis Partner Ernst & Young LLP 2008 Recipient Jim was born in October 1956 in the village of Karatoula Kynourias located about 20 km. outside of Tripolis, Arkadia. Jim attended the village grammar school and one year Kastri High School before immigrating to the United States in October 1969. In 1974, he graduated from Steinmetz High School, in three years while maintaining a nearly 4.0 average and was ranked 15th in a class of 600. Jim earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting from DePaul University in July 1977, graduating in three years with high honors. He continued his education at the University of Chicago where he earned his MBA in Accounting, Finance and International Business in 18 months, graduating in December of 1978. He passed the Certified Public Accounting, and the Certified Management Accounting exams in 1979 and 1983, respectively. Jim joined Ernst & Young in January 1979 in Chicago where he currently serves as a senior partner and a member of the leadership team. Over the 28 years at Ernst & Young, has served many clients and held various progressively important leadership positions. His clients have included Harley-Davidson, Whirlpool Corporation, Brunswick Corporation, W.W. Grainger, Lawson Products, Newell-Rubbermaid and many others primarily in the Consumer Products/Industrial sector. He has served as vice chair of Global Accounts, Managing Partner of the Lake Michigan Area audit practice, member of the Firm’s Partner Advisory Council, as Senior Client Service Partner, Diversity Task Force Chairman and many others. Jim has always stayed very close to his roots in Greece and the Greek community both in Germany and the United States. Jim serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hellenic American Academy since it’s founding in 2004. The Academy opened its doors on September 6th with an enrollment of nearly 500 students between the day school Socrates, evening school and the Saturday school programs. Over the years, Jim has also served as a member of the Archdiocesan Council and the Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Program. He served as a co-founder and first president of the Brotherhood of Karatoula Kynourias and as an active member of many other Hellenic organizations including UHAC. Over the last 10 years, Jim has served on the Advisory Council of the DePaul University College of Commerce and its Finance Department and served as adjunct faculty of accounting in the MBA Program between 1985 and 1990. He also currently serves on the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee of the National Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center. Jim has received many honors and awards and was named Archon of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople in 2004.
