Martin E. Cooperman Russian / Polish 2002 Recipient Marty Cooperman is Managing Partner of Grant Thorntons four New York area offices. Grant Thornton is an international accounting and management consulting firm with over 600 offices in over 100 countries. The New York office employs over 450 people in the New York metropolitan area. Marty has enjoyed a variety of roles and responsibilities in his more than 25 years with Grant Thornton. Prior to assuming his current position in 1999, he served, at varying times: as Assurance Partner, Assurance Department Head, Director of Personnel for the New York office and Partner-in-Charge of Grant Thorntons midtown office. He has held positions in Quality Assurance and Litigation Support and a senior leadership role in the firms National Manufacturing and Distribution Group. Marty has also served on Grant Thorntons Executive Committee. Throughout his career with Grant Thornton, Marty has served many of the firms largest and most prestigious clients including manufacturers, distributors, real estate and professional services companies. He has extensive multinational, SEC and corporate finance experience and, has consulted on numerous mergers and acquisitions. Marty is a member of the AICPA, CSSCPA and NYSSCPA and has served on the latters Managing Partner and Large Firm Practice Management Committees. He has taught Accounting at Fairfield University and has been a consultant to the New York University Management Decision Laboratory. Marty is active in several civic and philanthropic organizations including the UJA-Federation of New York and the American Jewish Congress and, is a member of Temple Israel in Westport, Connecticut. He has spearheaded a number of charitable fundraising initiatives including some for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and has served as the treasurer of the Westport/Weston Y for over a decade. Marty received his B.A. from New York University Washington Square College of Arts and Science and his M.B.A. from NYUs Stern School of Business.
