Nicholas J. Bouras Hellenic 1999 Recipient Born
in Pontiac, Michigan grew up in Chicago, Illinois Graduated from
Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1955 School of
Commerce. Employment
with the United States Steel Corporation in 1940 to 1960 in manufacturing
and sales.
Left United States Steel Corporation in 1960 to start up in the
steel construction field with wife, Anna K. Bouras.
At Present owner and president of Bouras Industries, Inc. which
consists of five operating companies, with four manufacturing operations
in three states New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.
Bouras Industries, Inc. which consists of five operating companies,
with four manufacturing operations in three states New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.
Bouras Industries employs approximately 600 people. A
founder of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church Westfield, NJ Past
president and chairman of building committee for 33 years.
A member of the archdiocesan council for 20 years, The National
Board of the Order to St. Andrew The Apostle for 20 years. Enlisted
in the U.S Army Air Corp. in 1942 and served three years eighteen
months in combat European theater of operations, and flew forty-four
combat missions in B-26 and A-26 medium bombers as a lead bombardier and
navigator until the end of the war in Europe.
Discharged with the rank of major.
Awarded the distinguished Flying Cross, eight air medals, and five
battle stars.
