Robert W. Mahoney Robert W. Mahoney is chairman of the board of Diebold, Incorporated. Mahoney joined Diebold in 1982 as corporate senior vice president, electronics products groups, responsible for the company’s automatic banking systems and electronics engineering groups. In 1983, he was elected to the board of directors and named executive vice president and chief operating officer, and in 1985, he was elected president and chief executive officer, and in 1988, he was elected chairman of the board. Prior to joining Diebold, Mahoney was president of NCR Canada Ltd., responsible for the company’s activities throughout Canada. He Previously held management positions with NCR, both in the United States and Far East Operations. Mahoney was Elected a member of the board of directors of The Timken Company, Canton Ohio, in 1992, and The Sherwin-Williams Company, Cleveland in 1995. He is a member of the board of trustees of Mount Union College, Alliance, Ohio; Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges; Manufacturers Alliance; Canton Junior Achievement; and the Professional Football Hall of Fame, In addition, Mahoney is a member of the Stark (County, Ohio) Development Board, Chamber of Commerce Leadership Stark County Advisory Board and Brookside County Club in Canton. Mahoney is a native of New York City. A graduate of Villanova University, Pa., with a bachelor’s degree in industrial administration, he also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Roosevelt University in Chicago.
