   Thomas C. Kyrus was born in Morphou, Cyprus in 1929, and immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1947. After graduating from Maury High School in 1949, he served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He graduated from Norfolk College in Business Administration in 1956.He entered real estate and development in 1956 and remained until his retirement in 1988. He specialized in commercial and industrial properties, building and development.

   Mr. Kyrus Served on Virginia Beach Board of Realtors and chaired Finance, Grievance and Program Committees. He served as chairman of Virginia Beach Kidney Foundation, and was President of Annunciation Greek Orthodox church in Norfolk, Va. He is also President and founder of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Va. Beach.

   In the years of 1974 through 1985, he was a member of the AHEPA, United Hellenic American Congress, Cyprus Federation of America, and Archdiocesan Council of the Greek Orthodox Church of North and South America. In 1985, Mr. Kyrus was Realtor of the Year by Tidewater Board of Realtors. Mr. Kyrus was the recipient of the Citation of the National Conference of Christians and Jews in Hampton Roads. For ten years, he was the Director of the Resort Area Advisory Commission of the City of Virginia Beach. He is Archon of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, and Chairman of Hellenic Cypriot Studies, Old Dominion University.

   Mr. Kyrus is currently serving as National Chairman of the Cyprus’ Children’s Fund of America, Inc., President of the Makarios/Lappas Scholarship Fund, awarding 14 scholarships annually to Greek-Cypriot students studying in the U.S.A. He is Director of the Virginia Beach Foundation, and Director of the Bank of Tidewater, and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Cyprus in Virginia Beach, VA.

   Mr. Kyrus resides in Virginia Beach, VA, and Naples, FL. He is married to Elaine Manioudakis, and has two sons, and two grandchildren.
