Tony Conza is Chairman, CEO and founder of BLIMPIE International, Inc., a public company (AMEX: BLM) that franchises quick-service outlets specializing in submarine sandwiches and salads.  More than 2000 franchised BLIMPIE outlets are located in the U.S. and 12 foreign countries. BLIMPIE International is also the parent company for Maui Tacos International, Inc., Pasta Central and Smoothie Island chains.

Mr. Conza is a recipient of several awards crediting his achievements in creative corporate leadership, including the New York State Restaurant Association’s “Chain of the Year,” sponsored by INC. magazine, Merrill Lynch and Ernst & Young in 1991 and was a nominee for the 1995 award.  The “Entrepreneur of the Year” award recognizes innovative approaches to management and relations with customers and employees.

Operating under the belief that a company can do well by doing good, Mr. Conza has spearheaded an association between BLIMPIE Subs & Salads and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.  Under Mr. Conza’s leadership, for over 8 years, BLIMPIE has supported the Clubs’ Violence Prevention Program,” an initiative aimed at reducing the presence of violence in the lives of young people across the country.  Mr. Conza also serves on the club’s Board of Governors and is Chairman of the Marketing Committee.  The restaurant chain is also funding and conducting research to assist the clubs and other interested organizations with violence prevention.  Separately, in 1993, BLIMPIE International received the Club’s Corporate Recognition Award. 

A patron of the arts, Mr. Conza has become a principal contributor to the internationally acclaimed Jose Limn Dance Company. He also serves on the Board of Directors of this New York-based company and as the Foreman Chairman, created its first-ever strategic business plan.

Mr. Conza serves on the Dean’s Council at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, is a member of the Institute of American Entrepreneurs, the Hall of Fame at Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, the National Restaurant Association, the New York State Restaurant Association, the National Italian American Association and the  International Franchise Association.
