Vice Admiral Michael P. Kalleres,
USN (RET)
Admiral Kalleres is the former President and CEO of Global Associates, Ltd., Technology Services Group (TSG), a premier engineering, analysis and professional Services Company with headquarters in Falls Church, Va. Under his leadership, Global (TSG) was a recipient of the Washington Business Journal Fast Track 98 Award as #19 of the 50 fastest growing companies in DC, VA. and MD. Global with a growth rate of 239% over 3 years (AOL was rated #2). He worked with the TSG team to enhance customer strategic and operational planning and fiscal viability. After the sale of Global to EDO Corporation of New York, he was asked to remain and become the senior advisor and liaison consultant between government and private sector Technology, Maritime and Research organizations. Most recently, he has become president of Dare to Excel Inc., a business consulting firm that also provides lectures on incorporating global partnerships with corporate Vision. Admiral Kalleres retired from active duty in September 1994 after 32 years as a naval officer. During this time, he led eight military/civilian commands in combat and peacetime, including duty Commanding all the Navy, Marine, Air and Army forces of the US Second Fleet in the Atlantic during Desert Storm for which he was awarded the Defense Distinguished Service Medal (DDSM). He then commanded the Military Sea Lift Command and provided US/UN humanitarian support during the Somalia, Bosnia and Haiti crises for which he was awarded an almost unprecedented second DDSM. Admiral Kalleres also commanded two Naval Planning and Financial Management Directorates and the US Navy Personnel Policy Directorate. He has successfully led the development, over several years, of all US NAVY programs of up to $100 billion per year for the Congressional budgets. Admiral Kalleres last Navy assignment was as Commander Military Sealift Command an organization of over 8000 people. He successfully operated nearly 150 maritime vessels and 27offices, worldwide with a $4 Billion per year operating budget and a $3 billion shipbuilding plan. He designed a major re-engineering of the entire organization. This resulted in a productivity increase of 17 1/2% and a $1.3 billion savings in operating funds over six years, despite a 25% increase in worldwide tasking including international humanitarian ship operations in Somalia, Russia, Bosnia, and Haiti. Admiral Kalleres was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management and Engineering from the Krannert School of Management, Purdue University, and a Master of Science degree in Political and International Affairs from George Washington University. He was awarded 18 personal/unit military/combat decorations including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal (2 awards) and the US Navy Distinguished Service Medal. He is also a Distinguished Graduate of the US Naval War College and a graduate of the National War College. Admiral Kalleres is a consultant member of the Defense Science Board; the Naval Studies Board of the National Academy of Science and several private sector boards. He is also a senior member the Deans Advisory Council at the Krannert School of Management, Purdue University and the National Advisory Board of the Salvation Army. Additionally, Admiral Kalleres was awarded the AXIOS Military man of the year award (1987), the St. Andrews medal for Christian and Public service (1988), and the Purdue Old Masters Award in (1991). For his public service, he was awarded the UHAC Man of the year award (1992), the AHI National Service Award (1993) and was inducted into the Purdue Hall of Fame (2000). Admiral Kalleres has served on the National Archdiocese Council of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Americas as the Chairman of the Administration Committee (1994-1999) and is now on the 2000-2003 Executive Board of Trustees for the Orthodox Missions Center. Most recently, he was awarded the University of Florida Distinguished Public Service Award (2000). He was also elected as the Senior Advisor for Social Services of the local Salvation Army Advisory Board of Jacksonville, Florida (2000/2003). On 12 May 2001, Admiral Kalleres was awarded the Congressional, Ellis Island 2001 Medal of Honor. Admiral Kalleres is currently residing in Jacksonville, Florida. He is married to the former Georgine (Cookie) Karras of Melrose Park, Ill. They have two adult children Mrs. Deme (Kalleres) Sanford and Mr. Peter Kalleres and two grandchildren, Alexandra and Matthew Sanford. Admiral Kalleres father became a US citizen after emigrating from Corinth Greece in 1906and his maternal grandparents emigrated from Tripolis Greece. All contents of pages and images
