  William J. Marino is President and Chief Executive Officer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey, Inc., the state's largest health insurer, providing coverage for nearly two million people.

  Bill joined BCBSNJ as Senior Vice President of Health Industry Services in January 1992, responsible for all aspects of Managed Care operations in New Jersey, as well as Market Research, Product Development, Provider Relations and Health Care Management. He became President and CEO in January 1994.

  He has 28 years of experience in the health and employee benefits field, primarily in managed care, marketing and management. Before joining BCBSNJ, Bill was Vice President of Regional Group Operations for New York and Connecticut for The Prudential, capping a 23-year career with them.

  Bill is a member and Past Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Regional Business Partnership. He also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the New Jersey Network (NJN) Foundation and is Chairman of the NJN Community Advisory Council. In addition, he is a member of the Boards of St. Peter's College, The Newark Museum and the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. He is a member of the Governor's Council for a Drug-Free Workplace and Fairleigh Dickinson University's Council of Presidential Advisors. Bill is a member of the corporate Board of Directors of Digital Solutions, Inc.

  Bill is Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the United Way of Essex and West Hudson and was the organization's 1993-94 Campaign Chairman. He also was on the Chief Justice Committee on Efficiency to review the functioning of the New Jersey judicial system, and has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, Inc., and of the Board of Health. He also previously sat on the Board of the New York State HMO Conference and on hospital boards.

  Bill is a recipient of the 1997 Ellis Island Medal of Honor. He graduated from St. Peter's College in Jersey City with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.

  Bill and his wife, Paula, have four children and reside in Morris Township, New Jersey.
