Remembering 2004 Medalist Ernest Borgnine

NECO fondly remembers our friend and 2004 Ellis Island Medal of Honor recipient Ernest Borgnine.

Mr. Borgnine passed on July 8th, 2012 at the immpressive age of 95. He won an Oscar in 1955 for Marty where his rugged 'everyman' looks made him an unusual leading man, but who's  personality and naturlistic style endeared him to movie-goers for decades.  On television, he played Quinton McHale in the 1962–1966 series McHale's Navy and was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on the hit television series ER in 2009 at the age of 92.

He ios survived by his wife Tova, who is a legendary enterpurneur and a pioneer in the Home Shopping industry. Tova Borgnine recieved the Ellis island Medal of Honor in 1994. OUr hearts and prayers are with her.
